A Poem: Let There Be
“Let there be…”
And there was!
What if…
There never was?
What if the Word
Didn’t speak those words?
What if nothing exists?
What if there was no dry land?
No seas?
No sun?
No moon?
No plants?
No animals?
What if everything was formless,
Covered by darkness?
But God said,
“Let there be…”
So there was!
And I am!
Created in His image,
To reflect his glory,
To give him honor,
To give him praise,
To worship the Creator
Of all there is
Through all eternity.
A Prayer: Stepping Into Nothing
Lord, you stepped into nothing,
Because nothing existed;
In the midst of that nothing,
You said something:
You said, Let there be…”
And, out of nothing
Came everything!
Lord, thank you
For creating everything,
With beauty,
With creativity,
With diversity,
Reflecting who you are.
Thank you for creating me,
To worship you,
To reflect your image.
Help me this day
Live out the reality
Of that image.
